Westin Garff is an associate attorney at Steele Adams Hosman whose practice focuses on personal injury, medical malpractice, commercial litigation, and civil litigation. He is dedicated to helping individuals and businesses navigate complex legal matters with careful preparation, strategic advocacy, and a client-first approach. Whether representing someone who has suffered serious injuries or assisting clients through challenging civil disputes, Westin is committed to providing thoughtful legal counsel and pursuing practical solutions that protect his clients’ interests.
Raised in northern Utah, Westin developed a strong appreciation for hard work, integrity, and service from an early age. Those values continue to shape his legal practice today. He believes that every client deserves clear communication, honest guidance, and an attorney who is fully invested in achieving the best possible outcome for their case.
Westin earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Weber State University, graduating cum laude in 2019. His undergraduate education provided valuable insight into human behavior, communication, and decision-making—skills that continue to benefit his legal practice. Understanding how people think, respond under stress, and process difficult situations enables him to communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Westin attended the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where he graduated with high honors in 2023. During law school, he distinguished himself academically while developing the legal research, writing, and advocacy skills that now serve as the foundation of his practice.
As a member of the Utah Law Review, Westin served as a Note & Comment Editor, contributing to one of the state’s leading legal publications. This role required extensive legal research, careful analysis of emerging legal issues, and exceptional attention to detail. His experience on Law Review strengthened his ability to evaluate complex legal questions and develop persuasive legal arguments based on thorough research and sound legal reasoning.
Westin also earned two prestigious CALI Excellence for the Future Awards, recognizing the highest academic achievement in a course. He received CALI Awards for Legal Professions and the Making a Murderer Seminar Writing Class, reflecting both his academic excellence and his strong legal writing abilities.
Westin’s passion for the legal profession was influenced by his family’s long-standing commitment to public service. His grandfather served as a respected judge on Utah’s appellate court, demonstrating throughout his career the importance of fairness, integrity, and dedication to justice.
Watching his grandfather use the law to serve the public inspired Westin to pursue a legal career of his own. That example continues to influence how he approaches every client matter. He understands that legal representation is about more than resolving disputes—it is about helping people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives and advocating for outcomes that can make a meaningful difference in their future.
Westin understands that most people seeking legal representation are experiencing significant stress. They may be recovering from serious injuries, dealing with financial uncertainty, or facing complicated legal issues they have never encountered before.
For that reason, he believes that communication is one of the most important aspects of effective representation. He works to ensure that clients understand their legal options, know what to expect throughout the process, and receive timely updates regarding their cases.
By building strong relationships based on trust and transparency, Westin helps clients make informed decisions while confidently navigating the legal system.

Individuals injured because of another party’s negligence often face mounting medical expenses, lost income, physical pain, and uncertainty about the future. Westin works closely with injured clients to understand the full impact of their injuries and help them pursue the compensation they deserve under Utah law.
He recognizes that every personal injury case is unique and takes the time to understand each client’s circumstances, ensuring they remain informed throughout every stage of the legal process.
Medical malpractice cases require a thorough understanding of both legal principles and complex medical issues. Westin assists clients who believe they have suffered harm due to negligent medical care, helping them navigate one of the most technically demanding areas of civil litigation.
His attention to detail, strong research background, and commitment to careful case preparation allow him to effectively evaluate medical records, work alongside experts, and advocate for individuals seeking accountability after preventable medical errors.
Westin also serves as a Medical Malpractice Prelitigation Panel Chairperson for the Utah Department of Commerce, a professional role that reflects his involvement within Utah’s medical malpractice system and his understanding of the state’s prelitigation review process.

Whether handling contract disputes, business-related conflicts, or other civil matters, he approaches every case with careful preparation, strategic analysis, and a focus on practical solutions.
One of Westin’s greatest strengths is his analytical approach to legal problem-solving. Every case presents unique facts, legal questions, and strategic considerations. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, he carefully evaluates each matter on its own merits and develops legal strategies tailored to the client’s specific circumstances.
His background in legal scholarship, extensive research experience, and commitment to meticulous preparation allow him to identify important issues early, anticipate potential challenges, and build persuasive legal arguments.
This attention to detail benefits clients throughout every stage of litigation, from initial case evaluation through negotiation, motion practice, and trial preparation when necessary.
As a member of the Utah State Bar since 2023, Westin is proud to serve individuals and businesses throughout Utah. He is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism while providing dedicated legal representation that reflects the values of Steele Adams Hosman.
His practice is grounded in integrity, preparation, and genuine concern for the people he represents. Every client receives individualized attention and a legal strategy designed to meet their unique goals and circumstances.
Outside of practicing law, Westin enjoys spending time outdoors exploring Utah’s remarkable landscapes. Hiking, fishing, and participating in wildlife conservation activities allow him to recharge while maintaining a close connection to the natural beauty of his home state.
His appreciation for the outdoors reflects the same patience, discipline, and respect for preparation that he brings to his legal work. Whether navigating a challenging hiking trail or preparing a complex legal matter, Westin values thoughtful planning, persistence, and attention to detail.
